Charles Harder, in CHERINE WAR , creates events and characters which can only be
matched by Philip K Dick and Scott Card. In truth, Harder may have taken a leap ahead
of these two master writers, in fact. Harder's underlying philosophy, which seems based
on both literature and visual imagery is breath taking. I have studied and read amazing
work in my life, but this actually shocked me as I read it. The narrative takes you as
Philip K Dick has (examples - Dick's BLADE RUNNER, or Scott Card's ENDERS GAME)
and suddenly you find your self inside a world which you trust, and then you are
awakened by events and realize you have been caught just as the characters have.
This is an amazingly readable work, but with quick and dark turns which take you into
further and further mystery, seeking the answer to the world. I recommend it for anyone
who wishes to read a writer who will redefine the texture of writing. Enjoy this book,
and have fun.
